Ibuzo studied Economics at the University of Sokoto, and earned an Entreprenuel management certificate from the Pan African University's Business School. She then joined Silverbird Productions as pageant manager during the reign of MBGN. She scouted the now famous Miss World, Agbani Darego. 

Joan owns House of Marie and is also Creative Director of the brand she launched in 2009. House of Marie is known for its African prints and bright modern fashion. She has managed to transform her label's classic floral  dress pattern and traditional West African her label’s classic floral dress pattern and traditional West African attire to hugely

 successful and novel designs. This fashion design house has a store and distribution centre in the U.S. It has high-end and low-end clearance offshoot female lines to satisfy both ends of the divide.
