An Alumni from NIFT-Kolkata, Nupur Kanoi started her career in fashion as a stylist and fashion writer for VERVE Magazine –Mumbai, then a 2 year stint as Assistant Designer to Anamika Khanna, following which she launched her eponymous Womens wear label ‘Nupur Kanoi’ in Kolkata in 2006.

The label reflects a rich use of global craft and colour merging with embroideries and surface texturing, always with a bit of artistic disarray. There is a strong sense of structure and flow in the garments mainly drawing its’ inspiration from menswear tailoring. The discordant harmony created by the use of contemporary and traditional imbued with a sense of fun completes the look of “Nupur Kanoi”.

The label showcased its Diffusion line at Wills India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2012, Lakme Fashion Week-Summer Resort 2012 and Lakme Fashion Week -Winter Festive 2012, after which the garments were seen off the ramp on many celebrities such as Sonam Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Sonal Chauhan, Asin Thottumkal, Prachi Desai, Chitrangada Singh, Anuradha Mahindra, Sabina Chopra, Aparna Badlani to name a few.

In a recent poll conducted by MissMalini.com in July 2012, she was voted “The Next Big Thing/ The Designer to Watch Out for,” also featured in The October 2012 issue of ELLE as ‘The top crop of this year’s Finest and Freshest in Fashion” and Winner of Grazia Young Fashion Award 2013 for Indie Cool.
