Sonu moved to Kenya from India in 2006. She soon realized that Kenya had lots to offer to the World and had a rich Cosmopolitan flair to it. She observed that Kenyans love being fashionable and her passion for Fashion came back to life and that was how JLT (Just Like That) was founded. 

With her initial collection SS pioneered the introduction of Indo-African fusion designs which are mainly a mixture of Indian drapes with  local heritage African fabric like Kanga,Kitenge & Kikoy with fine detailing. Usage of  beads, sequins, zari  and bold colors cut in chic style giving a contemporary expression with a global appeal . Mixing traditional with non-traditional the designs are elegant, edgy and sophisticated.

'Today’s woman whether from the corporate world or a girl next door are far more conscious of their appearance and are willing to experiment with their clothes, they want to be traditional yet fashionable.' says the designer.

Sonu believes that a designer has no boundaries and with her love for African fabric with bright colors and bold patterns. She went on to introduce -“The Mordern Kanga ”and Cosmo Kikoy” collections. . Every piece in the collection is unique in its own way, prominently bringing out feminism of the African woman .

With the immense knowledge in the Fashion Industry  and having  held various high profile fashion shows and being Voted Fashion Ambassador Kenya , Sonu strongly Believes “in a World of Color" and her creativity "runs on an engine of of passion, shape, textures and touch in a pattern that Leads to the Creation of Fashion."

In a short time Sonu has made a huge impact on the Kenyan Fashion scene.
