Whitney Grace Najjuko is a fashion designer and entrepreneur of GNAJ fashion Label. As a young girl at the age of 10, Whitney exercised her hobby of stinting and started the idea of restructuring dresses into fashion designs.
Whitney is a self motivated fashion designer who taught herself through fashion study books and internet tutorials online from various international fashion tutors.
Whitney has participated in beauty pageants such as Miss Uganda beauty pageant 2011 as a finalist. During these sessions, she got
empowered enough to pursue her dream to become a fashion designer. Her first encounter was with Congolese professional tailor educator Husha Abba of Husha Designers Institute (Uganda & Congo).As a student at the institute, she realized that she has skills of sketching designs, garment restructing and hand stitching. In addition to the skills above, she learned other important skills from garment construction to a finished quality product.
In 2012, Whitney founded GNAJ fashion label. GNAJ’s fresh, haute couture and avanta garde approach to African fabric has had Whitney exhibit at Royal Essence Magazine showcase at Club Venom, Bayimba International Festival 2013, Abryan style and fashion Awards. Whitney has also worked with US embassy in collaborations for the US^enterprenuership movement in Uganda, also worked with various pageants forinstance Miss Tourism Uganda regions.
Collaboration is growth with GNAJ, She has worked with various prominent
creative’s in the Uganda such as Ras Kasozi, Nsimire Joyce, Brenda Asiimwe,
SP Designs, Sawe Catherine, Shubba, Julius Muyomba, Bryans Ahumuza,
Joram management,amongst others. GNAJ fashion brand is a member of
the Seed Uganda organisation for young fashion enterprenuers in Uganda.
